Recipio

When leather is heated with the fire flame, it naturally starts to crumple and to close on itself. This last feature led me to investigate the concept of container, that brings with it the idea of receptacle, which in turn, comes from the latin term “recipio”, that means “to welcome” and “to protect”. Therefore, the receptacle is an object intended to secure and to protect. On the other side, the wrinkles created on the leather reminds me the hands of old people, that are generally associated to the idea of protection and  enclosing. With my pieces I would like to transmit the feeling of protection that the hands of old people are able to give.
